Alex Jeria Class of 2012 (Chicago, Illinois, Pharmacy)
As an out- of-state pharmacy major, I chose Rutgers-Camden because of its low student-professor ratio, few teaching assistants and small lecture size classes. Additionally this campus has a small student body, close knit residential community and several newly built facilities, all of which contribute toward a uniquely personalized campus. More importantly however, Rutgers-Camden has several opportunities for self directed research as well as potential corporate and medical internships due to dual nature of Rutgers-Camden University as an arm of a premier research institution and the proximity of the college to Philadelphia and Cooper Hospital

I have two favorite things about the Honors College. My utmost favorite is the administration that heads the Honors College . Dr. Woll and Robert Emmons have been invaluable to me. I have a million questions a day about school, coursework, and graduate school and I have at least one of them there every day to help me along the way. And no matter how many problems I have, they never deny me their help. My second favorite thing about the Honors College is the seminar style classes we are able to participate in each semester. English composition is offered in small, seminar settings which makes it not so intimidating. Being that it is probably the single most important class for all majors, having the ability to take it with a group of 15 students that you interact with daily is much more comfortable than taking the class in a larger, more intimidating circumstance.
Susan Krisch Class of 2011 (Psychology)
My favorite Honors college experience so far has definitely been the International Studies trip to England that I got to take via my Honors seminar of British Popular Culture. I cannot describe in words how much I enjoyed my time there. It was the first time that I've left the country and it was probably the best way to do it. My Honors seminars have trained me to think about things I see and learn and experience more in-depth.
Also, the Honors College has definitely helped me to come out of my shell and become a more outgoing and assertive person, thanks to the small community that it offers, and the way that I felt immediately welcome into it.
Sarah Katt Class of 2010 (Moorestown, NJ)
The Honors College at Rutgers-Camden has provided such a wonderful opportunity for me to excel in my college experience. As a member of the Honors College, my interaction with the people I've met is unlike any other relationship I have experienced. The people you will meet become your best friends, essentially your family, they are always there for you as your support system, your study team and your critics. You will grow intellectually to be understanding, introspective and more optimistic. With the fantastic advisers, your story becomes personally known, and they are constantly reach out to you with new ideas and classes that help you get to where you want to be, and if you don't know where that is, they help with that too. It has been such a wonderful experience with some of the greatest people that I can't imagine having a better time of it anywhere else.

Before you embark on your college journey, the Honors College provides you with everything you need to know about the upcoming year. They provide you with opportunities like open houses and orientation trips that lessen the shock and
anxieties come September. The main advantage of being a part of the Honors College is the fact that it’s a family environment that you come into. The advisors and students make it a point to make you feel included and comfortable. You are entitled to a one on one session with your adviser to formulate your course schedule and plan of action for the next four years of your life. You’re not just a number, and you definitely don’t just attend classes, you’re a face, a friend, a name, and most importantly, a voice. The freshman seminars are opportunities for students to open up and step outside of their comfort zone, as well as spread their horizons and take a class in something other than what their major requires. College is an experience and a chance to become who you truly want to be, and the Honors College offers the perfect opportunity for it.
Nicole Lister Class of 2009 (Cherry Hill, NJ)
Being part of the Honors College at Rutgers Camden is unlike being part of any other circle. And yes, I do mean circle. In the Honors College I’ve met some extraordinary people from all walks of life who have left an indelible impression on me and whom I’ll know for years to come. In the Honors College I’ve found people who can hold their own in a debate about the Iraq War on Monday morning and chat about the latest flick on Friday night. I’ve found people with similar interests and people with different tastes, but at the end of the day I’ve found people I consider not merely classmates, but friends as well. In terms of academics, the Honors College experience is top-notch. I’ve enjoyed brilliant seminars with appealing topics and small class sizes, which have allowed me to broaden my horizons in a comfortable, non-intimidating atmosphere. Moreover, I’ve gotten to know my professors on a more personal level, and I’ve benefited from one-on-one advising whenever I’ve needed it. Not only have I earned a first-rate education from one of the most prestigious schools in the United States, but I’ve had a blast doing it.
