See you at the Crossroads, So you Won’t Be Lonely: An Investigation Into Black Discourse in Rap Lyrics
This study examines Black discursive markers and their occurrence in rap lyrics. It uses rhetorical criticism and autoethnography to explore the Black discursive markers in media and outlines these markers’ influence on the development of rap music. Additionally, it uses rhetorical criticism to analyze the incidence of these discursive markers in songs created by White rappers. Join Dr. Westman and Professor June Straight for this discussion.
