Join the Honors College as we welcome Dr. Lisa Graley for an Honors Event:
More than Simply Medicine: Why Pandemics Invite the Study of Humanities
While plagues and poxes across time and place might wear different biological guises, the impulses and divisions they trigger in humans are amazingly similar. In this talk, we’ll examine how literary writers like Daniel Defoe and Katherine Anne Porter can illuminate and demystify our contemporary responses to COVID-19.
Dr. Lisa Graley is an Associate Professor of Literature and Humanities at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her regularly offered course “Plagues and Poxes” has generated keen interest from students since the COVID-19 outbreak.
