Meet Allison Murray (Nursing ’20), Honors College Student of the Month for April 2017!
HC: How has getting involved shaped your college experience so far?:
AM: Getting involved definitely helped me meet new people, some of whom are now my good friends. It also helped highlight my professional interests. For example, becoming a member of Jumpstart has shown me that I love working with children and encouraged me to focus on pediatric nursing for my future career.
HC: What has been the most memorable moment of your RUC experience?
AM: One afternoon in Jumpstart, I walked in the classroom and all the children jumped up and yelled “Miss Allison!” Their faces lit up as soon as they saw me. In that moment I realized what an impact I was having on them. It almost felt like a reward to me—my crazy schedule and the long days and hard work are all worth it for moments like this.
HC: If you could go back in time to give your high school self some advice, what would you tell her?:
AM: I think I would tell her to just slow down and not worry so much—things will work out in time. Before I started college I was so nervous that I wasn’t going to make any friends at Rutgers, but then I met two of my closest friends on Impact Day before the semester even started!
